Our editorial principles
The Margin started in 2024 as a side project — a place to publish the essays we wanted to read. Today we publish one new piece a week, sometimes two. We pay our writers a living rate and we never publish a piece we wouldn't read twice.

Edited slowly, published deliberately. Nothing on the homepage that we wouldn't bookmark.

Writers come first
Above-rate pay, two rounds of editing, rights stay with the writer.

Reader-funded
No ads, no sponsored posts. Subscriptions keep the lights on and that's the whole stack.
Where we work
Three editors split across London, Kathmandu, and Lisbon. Two of us write daily. One of us does the mailing list. None of us own an office.
